Boy run over
One Rajesh, a 15-year-old boy residing at Ghaghretia locality near Veraimata Mandir, was killed when a speeding truck ran over him outside his house on Sunday evening. The Makarpura police has lodged a case and is investigating.

Vehicle thefts
In separate cases of vehicle theft registered by the police on Sunday, two two-wheelers were stolen from different places in the city. While a Luna moped (GJ-6-D-6798) worth Rs 3,000 was stolen from Karelibaug area, a Yamaha motorcycle (J-20-M-1012) worth Rs 20,000 was stolen from Sayajigunj area. Investigations are on.

Case registered
The J P Road police registered a case of rioting against five people, namely Gokharbhai Samantbhai Bharwad, Gagjibhai Kadabhai Bharwad, Bhagubhai Kadabhai Bharwad, Lakhabhai Kadabhai Bharwad and Laljibhai Kadabhai Bharwad, all residents of Gadapura, for assaulting one Vibhabhai Vikrambhai Bharwada of Ramdevnagar on Gotri Nagar on Sunday morning. According to police, the accused assaulted the complainant with sharp-edged weapons and sticks, injuring him seriously.

Goods stolen
Aluminium goods worth Rs 9,000 were stolen from the premises of Bright Star Company on Yamuna Mill Road on Sunday afternoon, the police said. Company proprietor Narayanbhai Ranchhodbhai Patel, a resident of Meera Society, in an FIR with the Wadi police has named one Mukeshbhai Vitthalbhai Vasava and Vinodbhai Vitthalbhai Vasava as the suspects.

Burns death
One Nita Gohil, a housewife staying in Madhavpark Society, Laxmipura, succumbed to the burns in a private hospital in Kothi on Friday evening, the police said. Police said she had sustained burns on face and hands while cooking at her residence on Thursday. She was earlier admitted to the SSG Hospital but shifted to private hospital for further treatment.

Cheating case
In a complaint lodged with the city police station, Laxmandas Amlani, a resident of a society on the Warasia Ring Road, stated that he was duped to the tune of Rs 2,21,000. The complaint stated that when the complainant's son went to stay in a house in Akashdarshan Apartment in Kakkadpitha, which Amlani had purchased from one Hasmukh Soni of Warasia Ring Road, he found others staying in the house.
