VADODARA, April 5: After hike in milk prices, the City Congress Committee wants the administration to withdraw hike in essential commodities supplied from ration shops. In a memorandum submitted to District Collector Anil Mukim on Monday, the members demanded that a large number of workers would take to streets if hike in prices of wheat and rice in ration shops was not withdrawn.
The memorandum further stated that the citizens have been subjected to a hike which has not been imposed on them during the last 60 years.
The members further alleged that the Government was trying to fool the masses by giving wrong promises as presently the price of wheat in the open market and in the ration shops was the same.
They also demanded that the milk suppliers should get more returns and at the same time the citizens be also supplied at a reasonable price.
The Youth Congress leaders said that if the hike in milk prices was not withdrawn at the earliest, they would chalk out a programme for agitation.
