SURAT, April 5: One person was killed and five others were injured seriously when the Maruti Van they were travelling in collided head-on with a jeep on the state highway outside Vyara town late on Sunday evening. While three passengers of the Maruti van were admitted to the Vyara government hospital in a serious condition, and later shifted to Surat on Monday, two others were discharged after preliminary treatment, the police said.According to details, Paresh Jayanti Panwala, the Maruti van (GJ 5 PP 4822) driver, died on the spot while the other five occupants, Vishal Champaneria, Amar Champaneria, Dennis Champaneria, Dharmesh Champaneria and Dharmesh Dhanji Patel were injured. Vishal, Dennis and Dharmesh Patel were shifted to a city hospital on Monday.
Twelve people travelling in the jeep, numbered HG 5 A 8391, who received minor cuts and bruises were treated at the government hospital in Vyara.
The police said the jeep was going from Surat to Songadh, while the Maruti Van was returning to the city.
