CHANDIGARH, April 5: The exhibition of Rajasthani dress material currently on at Aroma Hotel offers a wide range of summer wear at reasonable prices for working women, housewives and college students.Trishna Tripti, a Jaipur-based organisation, has brought to the city dress material with prints done in an original ``bhagru'' manner.
Amit Bawa of the organisation said ``bhagru work has been named after a small place 30 km from Jaipur. It is famous for its authentic work of block printing. The colours used in the dress material too are not ordinary. Say to get a rust colour, the iron is kept in water for seven days which is then used in printing. In many of these prints, the colours used have been derived from flowers and vegetable dyes.''
Tripta Bawa, who runs the organisation, said, ``we have taken care of the needs of working women and the dress material is such that it won't crush easily.''
On display for college students are cotton tops with Rajasthani prints -- bhagru, dabbu -- where prints are done with the help of sand or black and white work -- all available for Rs 150. The suit lengths cost Rs 450 whereas the readymade suits - both Rajasthani and tie-and-die are priced at Rs 750. Kota Doria work with gotta patti work in cool shades costs Rs 900.
