Arm yourself

Ritika Ramtri
Summer is all about short strappy dresses, but are your arms and legs upto it? Are they too flabby or too thin and to top it all patchy and riddled with superfluous hair? If you have bulging arms take up a sport like swimming, tennis or badminton. A trip to the gym and a careful diet will help you get rid of those thunderous thighs.

So you have got rid of all that extra flab, but wait, are your arms and legs ready for that summer dress? Defuzz them for a silky-smooth feel. There are many ways to do so and waxing and epilating come up as winners. Is your skin a wee bit rough? Rub a handful of salt in a rotary movement before a bath or massage oat-meal soaked in milk on the affected portion. Leave on for 15 minutes and wash off. To lessen hair naturally, gently rub a pumice stone in a circular motion. Bleaching lightens the colour of the skin. A natural bleaching agent is a mixture of one teaspoon each of tomato, lime juice and milk. If your skin is dry and scaly, massage your legs and arms with cream, olive oil and rose-water. On the other hand if its too oily, rub Eu-de-Cologne after a bath so as to cut down the over secretion of oil.

The elbows and knees are often the most neglected. The skin here is thin and darkens easily. Avoid leaning your elbows on desks and chairs as far as possible. Scrub them daily while bathing with soap and a pumice stone. To lighten dark knees and elbows use a little cream of milk with lemon juice.

When you are going out in the sun try and wear a sun-coat and trousers to protect your arms and legs. Use sun-screen liberally on them. If you have got patches consult a dermatologist.

Your face maybe your fortune but your arms and legs also get to speak volumes about you. So next time you stop to buy that spaghetti 'lil number, do ensure that you've `armed' yourself first.
