PUNE, April 5: A group of cricket enthusiasts staged a morcha in front of the Pune Collector's Office today to protest against the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) ignoring left-handed batsman Vinod Kambli for the the forthcoming World Cup.Holding placards and banners, about 45 cricket lovers from the city gathered at the Collectors office, demanding the inclusion of the Mumbai batsman in the squad which was announced yesterday.
The group comprising mainly of members belonging to the Vinod Kambli Fan Club, ESIC Sports Club (Aundh) and PSH Club (Aundh) submitted a memorandum to the Resident District Magistrate Sadanand Koche.
Dr R Saxena, a member of the protesting group, said: ``Kambli has been cheated. He deserves to be in the World Cup squad. He is the best bet for the country and we are sure he will be of big help to the Indian campaign in the World Cup. By omitting Kambli, the selectors have cheated the public too.''
``We will go on a chain hunger strike from tomorrow, till the time BCCI includes Kambli in the team,'' informed Saxena.
