CHANDIGARH, April 7: A Public Interest Litigation, seeking a cash prize of Rs 500 instead of a pressure cooker under Punjab government's Small Savings Scheme, was today dismissed by a division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court here.Pronouncing the orders, the bench, comprising Justice R. S. Mongia and Justice S. S. Sudhalkar, observed: "According to us, this is total misuse of the jurisdiction of this court to file such litigation in the garb of Public Interest Litigation. We do not know what public interest is involved in this writ petition".
Earlier, Ajay Bharti, Sector 40 resident, had alleged that the respondents -- State of Punjab and Director, Small Savings -- had changed the prize from Rs 500 to pressure cooker with "mala fide intention".
