Four Hundred hostel inmates demand action

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, April 7: Even as a two-member committee probing the alleged sexual harassment of a research student in the Commerce Faculty of the M S University is yet to be submitted, another 400 inmates of the girls' hostels have demanded immediate action against the professor the student's guide concerned.

In a memorandum submitted to Pro-Vice-Chancellor Deepak Kumar De on Wednesday, the students stated that justice should be done to the research student. According to University union general secretary Prakash Verma, the girl students earlier convened a meeting at the Hansa Mehta Hall and decided to support the research student.

Nearly 500 residents -- both girls and boys -- of the Halls of Residence are expected to submit a memorandum to Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane soon. One of the students, Abhay Shukla, told Express Newsline that they did not want the report to be delayed. Another student leader said in the past when the reports were delayed nothing much had come out in investigations.

Meanwhile, the Committee members on Wednesday continued to question teachers and all others connected in the issue.
