MLA Patel woos milk suppliers

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, April 7: BJP MLA from Raopura Yogesh Patel is now trying to give a new turn to the on-going milk price hike controversy by writing an open letter to milk suppliers, who have been threatening to launch an agitation to counter the political parties, not to get swayed away by the Baroda Dairy authorities. While the Dairy had effected Re 1 hike per litre about a fortnight ago, the milk suppliers have been backing the Dairy and Patel opposing it.

In an open letter, the MLA has alleged that some of the members of the milk mandalis had become puppets to the Dairy authorities. Patel specified that his fight was against what he alleged as rampant corruption in the Dairy and not against the suppliers getting more returns on per kilogram fat. The Dairy has given them hike of Rs 3 per kilogram fat.

Patel claimed that out of the Rs 9 crore the Dairy would get by effecting hike, only Rs 1.8 crore would be given as returns to milk suppliers.
