Sahara TT from April 10

The Mumbai Suburban District Table Tennis Association (MSDTTA) will be conducting the Sahara Aspiration India Cup, under the auspices of the Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association and Table Tennis Federation of India.

The all-India level tournament featuring 18 top players will be conducted on April 10 and 11 at the MIG Cricket Club, Bandra (East).

The MSDTTA will also felicitate National champion Chetan Baboor on his stunning success over Olympic champion and World No. 1 Liu Guoling of China. Baboor will receive a purse of Rs 25,000.

MSDTTA to felicitate Baboor

The Mumbai Suburban District Table Tennis Association (MSDTTA) will felicitate National table tennis champion Chetan Baboor on April 11, for his fine showing in the recent Asia Top 12 tourney at Iran. He will be represented by a cheque of Rs 50,000.

Baboor, who is ranked 81 in the world after his shocking win over Olympic champion and World number one Liu Guoling at the Iran meet, would be here toparticipate in the Rs 1.75 lakh prize money India Cup to be held at the MIG Club on April 10 and 11.

Junior State Basketball

The Maharashtra State Inter-District basketball championship for junior boys and girls (born on or after 1-1-1981) will be organised at the Fr Agnel Sports Complex, Vashi, from May 5 to 9.

The districts should send their entries to Mukund Dhus, Hon. Gen. Secretary, MSBA, 5/51, Ranchoddas Villa, Bhaudaji Cross Road, Matunga, Mumbai 400 019, on or before April 25.

Savio Basketball from April 12

The Savio Club Open State-level basketball tournament for sub-junior boys and girls (born on or after 1-1-1986) and junior boys and girls (born on or after 1-1-1981) will be organised by the Savio Club at the Don Bosco High School ground, Matunga, from April 12 to 22.

Entries should reach Abraham Paulose, organising secretary, Savio Club, Don Bosco High School, Matunga, Bombay 400 019, or contact Tel: 412 6176, or M Venkatesh, tournament secretary on 4362790.

Seven-a-Side football

The Diamond Sports Club (Ambernath) will be conducting a 7-a-side day/night football tournament on April 30 and May 1, at the Fatima High School ground, Ambernath (W).

The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 12,000 and the runner-up, Rs 7,000. Those interested may contact Hemant Sharma on mobile No 98200 86206 before April 20.

Cricket

Former Mumbai Ranji Trophy player Sanjay Jaywant will conduct a cricket coaching clinic for aspiring youngsters in the age group of 10 to 19 years at the Dadar Parsee Colony ground, Matunga (opp Ruia College).

The camp will be held from April 12 to May 31 in morning and evening batches. Those interested can contact either Chandu Bhatkar (Tel: 538 3604) or Kishore Mehta (Tel 409 3738) or meet the above mentioned persons at the venue on April 8 and 9 between 7.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m.

The Indian Gymkhana Cricket Academy's summer coaching will commence from April 7. Coaching will be between 6.30 a.m. to 9 a.m. from Tuesday toFriday and the coaches will be Sanjay Gaitonde, VR Vishwanathan and Joshi.Evening coaching for ladies will be conducted by Surekha Bhandari between 4.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Athletics

The Winners' Sports Club, Dombivli, will be holding an athletics camp for those between 6 to 16 years of age from April 11 to 25 between 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. at the stadium near Pendharkar College, Dombivli (E).

After the initial trials, trainees will be selected for round the year training by prominent national coaches. For details contact Kadam 476961 or Kathoke 484979.

St Peter's Youth Social Service, Bandra, will conduct the 29th Annual Summer Holiday Club, sponsored by Raj K Mahtani, proprietor of Lalchand Dhalamall and Sons.

The camp will be held between May 1-30 at St Stanislaus High School Grounds, Bandra.
