Digvijay maintains lead on Day Two

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, April 7: Fifty-TWO golfers made the cut at the half-way stage to play the final two days of the Bharat Petroleum Samarvir Sahi Chandigarh Open Amateur Golf Championship, which is being played at the Chandigarh Golf Club. Digvijay Singh carded a level par round to maintain a four stroke lead over his nearest rival Harmeet Kahlon, who is based in Chandigarh.

Digvijay began his round with a birdie. However, he also dropped shots on the 4th where he doffed his second shot and the 11th and 16th both of which he three putted thereby accounting for his 72.

Harmeet Kahlon did not had much to complain about after his round of two under that put him four, though he would have liked to use the birdie opportunity on the last, that he missed to reduce the lead to three. He started the day with a bogey on the 1st hole but more than made up with his eagle on the 2nd. He then had birdies on the 4th, 7th and 12th but also dropped shots on the 10th and 17th coming in.

The news maker of the day was Sandy Lehal, a local golfer, who shot hole in one.

The other good round of the day was brought in by Anitya Chand, who shot one over par 73. His two day total of 149 ties him at third place with Shiraz Kalra.

Sandeep Sayal, who carded 75, also had a good round and placed him fifth.
