Narayanan accepts AIADMK ministers' resignations
President K R Narayanan on Thursday accepted the resignations of the two AIADMK ministers in the Atal Behari Vajpayee Government. Vajpayee forwarded the resignations to the President after a telephonic conversation with AIADMK chief Jayalalitha to ascertain whether her decision to withdraw her party's ministers was final.
Basu makes way for Congress march
The current political crisis in New Delhi will not give the CPM a chance to correct what Jyoti Basu described as the party's "historic blunder'' in June, 1996. Because, unlike in 1996 when Basu was willing to lead the United Front government, only to be shot down by his party, this time, he has ruled playing any such role.
Get affidavits on alleged leaks, Bhagwat dares George
Sacked Navy chief Vishnu Bhagwat has challenged Defence Minister George Fernandes to obtain affidavits from two newspapers to substantiate the charge that he (Bhagwat) had leaked information about a top secret project to them.
