Samsung targets Rs 900 cr sales

MUMBAI, APR 8 : Samsung India Electronics Ltd has announced a Rs 6.5 crore promotional campaign linked to the 1999 cricket World Cup to rake in a Rs 250 crore turnover during April-June 1999.

Zutshi said Samsung expected new product line-ups and penetration into newer markets to drive the turnover. Samsung recently introduced its products in Patna and Orissa and in rural markets in Tamil Nadu and Punjab. "The plan now is to tap the rural market in Maharashtra with specially prepared products at affordable prices," he said.

The promotion campaign entails free gifts with purchase of any Samsung product, ranging from a bat and a ball autographed by Kapil Dev to an all-expenses-paid trip to England.
