Comfortable win for Brighto

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, April 8: Two electrifying knocks of 75 by Rajesh Anand and 68 by Jagdish Singh and a deadly spells of 3 for 13 by Rajiv Chauhan and Sandeep Angurala (3 for 25) were sufficient to take Brighto Club past Evergreen into the pre-quarterfinals of the Lala Hari Ram Aggarwal memorial day-night cricket tournament at the MCD Sports Club ground here last night.

Choosing to take first strike, Evergreen were in deep trouble right from the beginning and never looked like posting a big total against a tight bowling by Brighto. Subsequently, Evergreen lost the initiative and managed 176 for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 30 overs. The only exceptions being Rajesh Rana, who compiled a patient 40 along with Mohan Singh (34). But for them, none of the Evergreen batsmen had srough enough will to face the bowling of Rajiv Chauhan (3 for 13) and Sandeep Angurala (3 for 25).

In reply, Brighto achieved the target of 177, losing just two wickets in 25.2 overs. Anand's 75 came of 68 deliveries and was studded with four sixes and two fours while Jagdish's knock contained a six and 10 fours.

Brief scores: Evergreen (176 for 9: Rajesh Rana 40, Mohan Singh 34, Rajiv Chauhan 3 for 13, Sandeep Angurala 3 for 25) lost to Brighto Club (177 for 2: Rajesh Anand 75, Jagdish Singh 68, Rajesh Kumar 2 for 24).
