Narayanan accepts AIADMK ministers' resignations
President K R Narayanan on Thursday accepted the resignations of the two AIADMK ministers in the Atal Behari Vajpayee Government. Vajpayee forwarded the resignations to the President after a telephonic conversation with AIADMK chief Jayalalitha to ascertain whether her decision to withdraw her party's ministers was final.

With the exit of the AIADMK ministers from the Union Cabinet, the stage is set for a showdown between Jayalalitha and the Vajpayee Government. Now that the war of words has pushed Jayalalitha to a point of no return, the pressure is on her to withdraw support to the Government.
