SAD-BJP councillors meet Chhibber

CHANDIGARH, April 9: Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiromani Akali Dal councillors led by former mayor Gian Chand Gupta today met UT Administrator Lt General B. K. N. Chhibber and demanded an inquiry into the corporation's functioning.

They sought the suspension of Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal for his unconstitutional conduct of the house and demanded an inquiry into the arrest of elected representatives on charges of obstructing people from entering the office of Adviser on March 23.

Later, they also submitted a memorandum highlighting the functioning of the corporation and wanted annulment of committees which were constituted illegally.

Meanwhile, in a Press release issued today, office secretary T. R. Kapoor informed that the `karyakarni' meeting of the City BJP will be held on April 11 in the party office, Sector 33. The meeting will be presided over by BJP national general secretary Narendra Modi. He urged all office- bearers, morcha presidents and cell presidents to attend the meeting.
