Four held for separate cases of robbery

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, April 9: With the arrest of two youths the east district police say they have solved several robbery cases. The two 22-year-olds have been identified as Mohammed Raees and Gopal alias Kalia. The police also claim to have recovered two Yamaha motorcycles from them.

Around 7 p.m. yesterday Constable Brahm Parkash of the Geeta Colony police station received a tip-off that some youths involved in various cases of vehicle theft would meet near the community centre in block 17 to plan another robbery.

A trap was laid, and around 9 p.m. the police team spotted two youths on a Yamaha and tried to stop them. The two attempted to flee, but were eventually overpowered. It was subsequently discovered that the motorcycle had been stolen from Krishna Nagar on April 4. The police say the youths revealed that they had stolen another motorcycle from Geeta Colony on February 13, which has also been recovered.

The youths reportedly also confessed to their involvement in a robbery on February 27, when they allegedly stole Rs 18,000, three kg of silver and four tolas of gold from one Joginder Vaid. In another case, the south district police say they have solved a Noida robbery with the arrest of two men. They have been identified as Mohammed Aleem and Shakil Akhar alias Guddu. On the night of March 29, fabric worth Rs 9 lakh was stolen from factory no. D-12 in Sector 3, Noida.

The Delhi Police kept a watch on the activities of scrap dealers in Ohkla. During a routine check, a beat constable came across Aleem, a scrap dealer, who was wearing a pair of new Nike shoes. Aleem and Akhar have reportedly confessed that they stole the fabric and sold it to Vinod Kumar Jain and Ravinder Kumar Jain, both residents of Shastri Park.
