Sarod maestro enthralls Delhi

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, April 9: Sarod player Sharan Rani today enthralled a select audience, led by first lady Usha Narayanan, with her scintillating performance.

In a concert organised by the Pandit Chatur Lal Memorial Society to felicitate the first woman instrumentalist on the occasion of her 70th birthday, the maestro held the audience spellbound with her ragas. Usha Narayanan wished the unparalleled exponent of sarod `many happy returns of the day'.

Pandit Jasraj also gave a vocal recital. Called the `cultural ambassador of India' by Jawaharlal Ne-hru, Sharan Rani, known as `Sarod Rani', has been a source of inspiration to three generations.
