Around 180 corporate golfers will be seen in action this weekend at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club for the annual House of Patels Greensome Golf Tournament.

Among the invitees for the fifth edition of the event are Dilip Dandekar (Camlin), one of last year's winners, Harsh Goenka (RPG), Arjuna awardee and veteran golfer Rajkumar Pitamber (Mahindras), Shahsi Ruia (Essar), Vijay Chauhan (Parle), Mehroo Irani (Associated Breweries), Asgar Patel of the sponsors and former Indian Test cricketer Ashok Mankad.

The format of the tournament is the Chapman's Greensome introduced at the same venue four year's ago. Two players will form a team and will tee-off together at each hole. The second shot for each of the balls is played by the other partner. The better ball in terms of result is selected and the players then play alternatively from thereon till the ball is holed. Scoring is on stableford basis and the team handicap is 3/4th of the average combined handicaps of the twogolfers.

Attractive prizes and trophies await the victors.

Vilesh Bhatt adjudged best
Vilesh B Bhatt of National Sports Club of the Blind (NSCB, Mumbai) has been adjudged outstanding blind sportsperson in India.

Bhatt has participated in chess and cricket at the National and International level. He was the first cricket player selected from Maharashtra to represent India in the first World Cup tournament for the blind held at New Delhi in 1998.

In addition, Bhatt was National champion in chess for the blind in 1997 at Calcutta and in 1998 at Mumbai. He was also the winner of the first National-level Blind vs Sighted chess tournament organised at Surat in November 1997.

Bhatt will receive his award at 5.00 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) at the awards function at Rajshree Shahu Sabhagrah (3rd floor), Shivaji Natya Mandir, NC Kelkar Road, Dadar (West), Mumbai 400 028.

MSBA to hold basketball clinic
The Maharashtra State Basketball Association will be conducting a clinic for referees,players and officials on the new rules at the Savio Club, Don Bosco High School, Matunga, Mumbai 400 019, on April 12 at 6.00 p.m.International referees Joseph John and M Venkatesh will conduct this clinic. The new rules will be implemented from April 13 in the Savio Club tournament.

Camp Notes
Chess:
Sham Shetye, an international rated player, will be conducting a chess coaching camp for youngsters residing in South Mumbai, at the Aryan High School, Girgaum, from April 12 to June 12.

Those interested should enquire at the Aryan High School between 6.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m., or contact DK Golvankar (386 5076) or Sham Shetye (367 0564) for details.

Cricket: Former Test cricketer Chandrakant Pandit will be conducting two-month vacactional cricket coaching for beginners and intermediates at the Hansraj Morarji Public School ground, Andheri (W) from April 15.

The Blow Plast-sponsored cricket coaching for school boys will commence at the GSB Sabha's Sports Club, next to SNDT women's college, RA Kidwai Road, King's Circle, Mumbai 400 019, from Sunday, April 11. For details Tel: 409 6739 between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Former Railways' Ranji player Sudhakar Chavan will conduct a cricket coaching clinic for aspiring youngsters in the age group of 10 to 20 years at the Fort Vijay Cricket Club, Azad maidan. The camp will be held from April 15 to May 31 between 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Those interested can contact Sudhakar Chavan on Tel: 373 2693.

Mayor in Consul, Digamber Kandarkar, will be conducting a cricket camp for boys schooling in Municipal schools and aged between 12 to 16 years, from April 15. The camp will be inaugurated on April 14 at 4.00 p.m. at the St Xavier's ground, Parel. For details contact Vithal Satam on Tel: 416 6587.

Judo: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti (CSMSS) will hold a judo and combined martial arts campfor seniors and juniors at Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul, Shahaji Raje Marg, Vile Parle (E) from April 18.
