Conservation scholarships

The Charles Wallace (India) Trust will offer two scholarships in Building Conservation, Landscape Conservation and Urban Design for an academic course leading to an MA in Conservation Studies. These will begin in September 1999. It will also offer upto 2 short-term fellowships lasting between 8 and 12 weeks in the above mentioned areas. Application forms are available from the British Council Division and Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage offices in India. These should be submitted to the Chairman, INTACH (UK) Trust, 71 Lode Estate, New Delhi 110 003 by April 20.

Courses on mathematics

The department of Extra-Mural Studies of the University of Mumbai will hold a five-week series on mathematics related courses for students above Std XIII from April 26. The courses include: fun with mathematics, fun with numbers, fun with geometry, algorithms, magic of mathematics and Vedic mathematics. Classes will be held at Ruparel college, Matunga between 2and 5 pm. For registration, contact Room No 25, Extra-Mural Studies, Fort Campus, University of Mumbai; or call on 2673782.

Acupuncture, ayurveda camp

The Naryanwadi Trust has organised a five-day acupuncture and Ayurvedic treatment camp during April 17 to 21 (both inclusive) for which preliminary examination and registration will take place on April 16 from 11 am.This camp will be held at Narayanawadi, 86/88, Khadilkar Road, CP Tank Road, Mumbai - 400 004 - Telephone No. 3857065. Dr. Sucheta Godbole, a noted acupuncture practitioner from Pune will be conducting the above camp in association with Dr. Jagdish Bhutada. A token charge of Rs 500 has to be paid upon registration on April 16, 12 noon. The camp will help all those in need of the treatment of paralysis, knee and joint pains, arthritis and rheumatism, migraine and head-ache, frozen shoulder and back pain.

Workshop on managing stress

Aavishkar Clinic has organised a weekend workshop on stress and time management. This workshopfocuses on understanding the causes of stress, identifying symptoms, learning skills and techniques that alleviate stress, relaxation and effective time management. The workshop will be conducted on May 1 and 2 at Matheran. Contact 4227515 before April 25.

Award for state women's council

The Maharashtra State Women's Council won the Ahilyadevi Holkar state award for the best-run welfare organisation for underprivileged women and children. In 1997 the Council had received a national award and another in 1996 for the Best Run Child Welfare Institution.
