NASHIK, APRIL 11: The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has rejected the demand of ayurvedic medical students for retaining the ATKT system. But it has agreed to a supplementary examination for 1st year BAMS students in Physics and Sanskrit, as a special case. The V-C of MUHS, Dr Dayanand Dongaonkar, said that the first year BAMS students who had taken admissions in October/November 1998 and would appear for their examination in November/December 1999, would be given the concession as a one-time solution, as the MUHS did not want to set any precedent.
He said that if the students fail in Physics and Sanskrit, they would be permitted to appear for a supplementary examination as a special case. Only those who clear the subjects would be admitted in the second year BAMS, provided the students and their colleges complete the syllabus in time, through special classes during vacations.
