Crime Beat -- Chandigarh

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
House burgledSome persons allegedly broke into the house of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Sector 34 and decamped with Rs 55,000, besides a tape recorder, gold ornaments and other things. The police have registered a case and investigations are continuing.

Charas seized
The city police have recovered one kg of charas from a resident of Bihar, Bhajan Lal. He has been arrested under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. He was nabbed from the outer road of Palsora village. Meanwhile, Sector 21 resident, Ashu Vaid, reported to the police that their servant Shiv Lal had stolen ornaments and Rs 5,000 from their house. The police have registered a case.

One injured
A moped rider, Raju, was injured when his moped was reportedly hit by a bus near the poultry farm chowk. The injured has been hospitalised, while the police have arrested the bus driver, Raghbir Singh.

Motorcycle stolen
Sector 46 resident Sital Gupta reported that his Yamaha motorcycle CHJ-119 had been stolen from the district courts parking.

Mishap
Sector 31 resident, Om Bahadur Rana, was injured when he was reportedly hit by a car in Sector 34 here. The police have arrested the car drvier, Hari Singh.
