Body found on railway track

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, April 11: The body of a man, apparently in his late 20s, was found on the railway track here today. The deceased is yet to be identified.

According to the Government Railway Police, a gateman, Jawahar, saw the body at Gate number 128 around 6 a.m. and promptly informed the nearby GRP post. The point at which the body was found is near Manimajra.

Assistant sub-inspector Jagir Singh, in-charge of GRP here, said he went to the spot and it looked like an accidental death. He said the lower half of the body lay near the track, while the rest of the body was scattered on the track.

He was, however, not sure under which train the deceased might have died. The deceased was probably a labourer, who had come from either Bihar or Uttar Pradesh, he added. The body has been sent for postmortem at Kalka Civil Hospital.

Only last week two teenagers were crushed under the train at the similar spot.
