PATIALA, April 11: The district administration has appealed to people to illuminate their houses and establishments on Baisakhi night to celebrate the tercentenary of the birth of Khalsa.
Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh Bir said here today that the administration has already instructed its employees to illuminate government buildings, including school, colleges and libraries. Cinema owners and petrol pump owners, too, have been also asked to do the same.
Bir said that the administration has completed arrangements for the transportation of devotees up to Anandpur Sahib from here on April 13, 14. Private and government buses would be allowed to ply on special routes up to Anandpur Sahib, he added.
The DC said that special round-the-clock police patrolling would also be introduced on all roads leading to Anandpur Sahib.
Meanwhile, R. S. Randhawa, additional deputy commissioner, said that seven vans had already left for Anandpur Sahib for showering petals during the celebrations on April 13 and 14.
