VADODARA, April 11: All the 600 Class III employees of the district administration here will go on indefinite strike from today. Statewide, about 10,000 employees of the State Revenue Class III Employees' Federation who will go on strike to press the government to accept their demands.Leaders of the district unit of the federation including Natwarsinh Vansdiya told Express Newsline that since the last meeting of the Federation delegation with representatives of the State government on Saturday at Gandhinagar had failed to yield the desired results, the strike would begin from Monday.
Meanwhile, about 200 employees also held a meeting at Narmada Bhavan here on Sunday afternoon and reiterated their stand on the strike. According to sources in the Federation, leaders would also meet the State revenue minister Vajubhai Vala again.
Speaking about the likelihood of office work being disrupted, District Collector Anil Mukim said he hoped the strike would be withdrawn by Monday. He added he would ensure that extra work is done by senior officials to avoid any inconvenience to people.
