HR Gandhar elected PUSC president

CHANDIGARH, April 12: HR Gandhar, principal, DAV College, Abohar was unanimously elected president of the Panjab University Sports Committee for the next academic session in the general body meeting of the PUSC held recently.

Dr Kirpal Kaur Randhawa, principal, SMS Karamjot College for Women, Miani and Jaswant Singh Grewal of Guru Nanak College Moga, were elected senior vice-president and vice-president, respectively.

Prof Iqbal Nath Chaudhary, who is the officiating Director Sports PU is the secretary. Dr Kewal Singh, Assistant Director Sports PU is the assistant secretary of the executive committee.

The PUSC has also 16 members in its executive committee. Amongt them are the 12 principals of various colleges. The other four members are lecturers in physical education of the various colleges affiliated to PU.

The principals are: Surinder Pal Brar, SD College for Moga; Hakam Singh Brar, Government College, Gidderbaha; KK Gupta, DM College, Moga; Jaswant Singh Sandhu, BAM Khalsa College, Garshankar; AS Bedi, SD College, Hoshiarpur; MS Khattra, GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar; Anup Kaur Bansal, GN Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana; Kusum Narula, AS College for Women, Khanna; Amarjit Singh Grewal, GTB National College, Dakha; AC Vaid, SD College, Chandigarh; RC Jeevan, DAV College, Chandigarh; Harjit Khanna, GGS College for Women, Chandigarh.

RS Brar, Government College-46, Chandigarh; Rajinder Singh, Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana; Dalip Kaur Randhawa, Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana; Prakash Kaur Grewal, SDP College for Women, Ludhiana, are lecturers of physical education who are members of the executive committee.

Veterans meet
The National Veterans athletic meet will be held at New Delhi (Nehru Stadium) from April 16 to 18. According a press release, the members of the Chandigarh contingent will get their chest numbers at the venue on April 15 at 6 p.m.

The participants have also been requested to wear white kit for the opening ceremony.

Carrom tourney
The second Prize Money Ranking carrom tournament will be held from April 30 to May 2, at the St Stephen's School in Sector 45, under the aegis of Chandigarh Carrom Association.

The competition will be conducted in men's and women's singles categories. Entries close on April 24, with KS Patwal, HNo 639-B, Sector 32-A.

The meet is open to players, who are registered with the association. However, new entrants, who get themselves registered with the CCA, will also be allowed to take part in the tournament.
