Big win for Sonnet
Akash Chopra missed what would have been a deserving century by four runs but his knock off 89 balls proved handy for Sonnet Club, who defeated J.N. Golden by 127 runs in the all-India Om Nath Sood Memorial cricket tournament at the Khalsa College ground here today.

Put in, Sonnet piled up 254 for five with contributions coming from, besides Chopra, Devender Sharma (53), O'neil Wilson (22) and Yashpal (26). In reply, JN Golden failed to match the required run-rate and for the exception of Ashu Dani(43) all other batsmen failed as they folded making 127 in 26.4 overs.

Wilson was the most successful bowler with four wickets while Vijay Walia captured three.

Brief scores: Sonnet: Akash Chopra 96, Onil Wilson 22, Devender Sharma 53, Yashpal 26 not out, Amolak Singh 2 for 47) bt JN Golden: Ashu Dani 43, Onil 4 for 24, Vijay Walia 3 for 40, Rohit Mehra 2 for 6).
