Functions to mark Shivaji Jayanti

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, April 13; The Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Commemoration Committee, a Mumbai-based non-political organisation, will celebrate Shivaji Jayanti on April 17 in two functions to be held at Gateway of India and Dadar's Shivaji Park.

The highlight of the functions will be the performances of Maharashtra's traditional folk art form, powada. Shahir Sheikh Jainu Chand and Shiv Chhatrapati Mandal, run largely by women artists, will present a programme titled Hi Ratra Shahiranchi at Shivaji Park at 6 pm. The celebrations have been jointly organised with the BMC. Manmohan Singh Bedi, former Mayor and the committee's vice president said that several dignitaries including the governor, chief minister, mayor and municipal commissioner will grace the functions.

The programmes are open to all.
