Woman held under PASA
One Chandra Sudhir Kharwa, a resident of Dumas on the outskirts of the city was arrested under the Prevention of Anti Social Activities (PASA) act. Kharwa was arrested by the PCB after her activities -- transporting and selling country liquor -- were found to be detrimental in maintenance of law and order in the city. She has been sent to the Central jail, Vadodara to serve a sentence.Thefts
A Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle, 100 pounds currency notes, cash and wrist watches worth Rs 70,000 were stolen in an early morning burglary reported at a house on Sumul Dairy Road on Tuesday, the police said. Amarjeetsingh Sikh, a resident of bunglow no 48 at Shriniketan Society told the Katargam police that unidentified people climbed into the house through an open window, stole Rs 8000 in cash, 100 pounds, two wrist watches and a Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle between 2 am and 6 am on Tuesday. The police have registered a case under IPC 379, 380 and 457 and are investigating further. No arrests have been made in the case. In another case registered at the Varachha police station, unidentified people broke into a bunglow at Trikamnagar and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 67,000. A complaint was registered in the police station by Karamsinh Ratnabhaai on Tuesday.
Hit-and-run
A person walking on the road, near Magdalla, was hit by a moped and suffered head and body injuries while the culprit fled the scene, the Umra police stated. Ina Behra, a resident of Tulsichaal slum in Udhna, told the police that he was hit by a Bajaj M-80 (GJ 5 AE 9447), whose driver escaped from the spot after the incident. A case has been registered under sections of the IPC and MVA.
