SBT, ICF ease ahead

CALCUTTA, APRIL 13: State Bank of Travancore (SBT) stormed past Assam Police 3-0 while Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Perumbur, drubbed Sagalband United, Manipur, 5-0 in preliminary round group A outings of the Second Division National Football League here.

The day's opening exchange was completely one-sided with the bankmen using their wings to perfection to rip through their opponents' defence time and again.

VP Saji put SBT ahead in the 31st minute following a pass from the left, while S Ignatius made the scoreline 2-0 four minutes later.

The Bankmen wrapped up the proceedings with Ignatius again striking in the 72nd minute.

In the other match, played under floodlights, ICF drew first blood as early as the seventh minute through Suresh Kumar and consolidated their lead three minutes from lemon break with Shree Kumar finding the target.

The Perumbur outfit continued their total domination in the second half, literally toying with their opponents, who failed to put up any worthwhileresistance.

Marcel Sladen (68th min), Ravi (76th min) and Murali (85th min) scored for the winners in the second session.
