APRIL 13: Indian Gymkhana and Father Agnel won the junior boys and girls' league matches of the Colgate sensation whitening-sponsored Savio State Level Basketball Tournament being played at Don Bosco, Matunga today.

Rohan Kumar top scored with 21 points to lead Indian Gymkhana to a 51-21 victory over Savio B while J Rakhi (13) helped . Fr Agnel beat Hoopers 23-14.

Results: Jr Boys Indian Gymkhana 51 (Rohan Kumar 21) bt Savio B 21 (S Jitendra 13); Central YMCA 73 (Rajnikant Acharya 19, Placid Fernandes 17) bt Ghatkopar YMCA 7.

Girls: Fr Agnel 23 ( J Rakhi 13, Anjali Yadav 8) nt Hoopera 14.

Melwyn wins thriller: Melwyn Oliver (+55) scored a thrilling 110- 86, 74-118, 116-96 victory over SB Vengulakar (+55) in the first-round of the Matharpacady Club Open Handicap snooker tournament for Sushil R Ruia Cup, sponsored by Selvel Publicity and Consultant, today. Other results:

First-round: John Rato (+55) bt Aditya Mehta (+60) 112-86, 114-85; DS Rao (+55) bt D Fernandes (+60)117-94, 117-88; Arun Kotian (+55) bt X Figueredo (+60) 105-68, 116-108.

Harshs claim title: Kailash Harsh and Kavita Harsh won the Willingdon Cup mixed matchplay golf tournament at the BPGC. The pair beat Ashok Goenka and Meher Amersey 2-1 in the 18-hole final.

Other results: RS Gentle Cup - Captain's bt President's 14.5 -11.5; Sr. Bogey Cup: 1 BV Ramachandra (+1), 2 DK Babbar 0; Super Seniors: Suryakant Patel (-2).

Saxena dazzles: Medium-pacer Santosh Saxena claimed 5-68 to enable Central Railway defeat Western Railway in the semi-finals of the All-India Inter-Railway cricket tournament at the Wankhede Stadium. Brief scores: Western 214 (T Singhare 74, A Parmar 46; Saxena 5-68) lost to Central 215-4 (A Deshpande 68, S Bhatnagar 69, S Yadav 32) by six wickets.
