New Delhi: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5, having its epicentre at Chamoli in Garhwal region of Uttar Pradesh, was felt in the Capital at 2254 hrs. The quake was felt in Alaknanda Valley, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Tehri and Dehra Dun, reports said.

Moscow: The State Duma, Russia's lower house of Parliament, found itself in an unprecedented predicament today when it was unable to muster the votes required to reverse an earlier decision to begin impeachment proceedings against President Boris Yeltsin on April 15.

The House tried twice to get theresolution to hold the impeachment debate on May 13-15 passed, but both attempts failed. In its first attempt, the Duma fell short by 20 votes and in the second, by 17 votes.
