Grand finale for Khalsa Panth celebrations

PUNE, April 14: Religious programmes, rallies, blood donation and health camps, besides other social events were held to mark the tercentenary celebrations of the Khalsa Panth. The week-long celebrations concluded today.

Thousands of devout Sikhs from all over the district today visited Dashmeshnagar at the B J Medical College Ground throughout the day and participated in various celebrations. They also visited several stalls at the site. Kirtan was held in the morning.

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Prataprao Bhosale who visited Dashmeshnagar was felicitated. Mayor Dattatray Gaikwad, Pimpri Chinchwad Mayor Madhukar Pawle were also felicitated. `Guru Ka Langar' was held in the afternoon.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh organised a sanchalan (march) which began from Bombay Garage in Pune camp. The statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was garlanded. The march ended at the B J Medical college ground. The RSS paid respects to the holy Guru Govindsingh Granth. Mohansingh Rajpal, Satsingh Mokha of the tercentenary committee felicitated RSS prant sanghchalak Dr Ashokrao Kukade on the occasion.

Committee president Jagjitsingh Khalsa announced the formation of the Maharashtra-Punjab Education Society which will work for the spread of computer education as well as assist students from poor families to complete their education up to standard X.

Earlier `Amrutprachar diksha' was held at the Gurudwara in camp area. A blood donation camp organised by the Acharya Anandrishiji blood bank was inaugurated by committee secretary Harjeetsingh Bedi. An eye camp was also held.

A `Kavi Durbar' was held in the evening at Dashmeshnagar. Poets from Punjab as well as Maharashtra participated in the programme.
