AHMEDNAGAR, April 14: Noted social reformer and anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare today said that he has received a letter from Chief Minister Narayan Rane assuring that the Government will take a stern action against the 60 officials of the State irrigation department of the Pune region allegedly involved in corruption, if found guilty.Talking to reporters at Ralegan Siddhi today, Hazare said that earlier he had demanded an inquiry into the alleged rampant corruption in the irrigation department and had threatened that if the necessary action is not not taken within 15 days he will launch a statewide agitation.
Referring to the functioning of the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata party alliance government in the state, he said that the government is more interested in minting money than the welfare of its people and further alleged that many Minister are involved in filling their own pockets. He appealed the bureaucrats to strongly oppose any illegality in the public works by the government on the lines of Arun Bhatia, the PMC commissioner.
