PCMC fines liquor trader

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, April 14: In a swift action by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's octroi department, a penal fine of Rs 81,210 was recovered by liquor trader Ramesh Dayaram Mirani in Pimpri last night.

Following the action, the octroi department has now announced that it will recover all octroi dues which have been evaded by liquor traders. This will be done by collecting information about the liquor goods brought in Pimpri-Chinchwad limits on the basis of transport passes issued by the state excise department.

A special squad of the octroi department noticed a tempo which sped away from the Phugewadi octroi post. The squad immediately launched a chase and tracked the tempo at 7/13 C-block in Pimpri. The tempo had a huge stock of liquor goods which were to be delivered in 20 major shops and hotels. The goods were being unloaded in a godown when the squad stooped on the trader.
