Kirtans, langars mark Baisakhi celebrations

CHANDIGARH, April 14: The festival of Baisakhi was marked with chabeels, kirtans and shabad recitals in various gurdwaras, and the culmination of the ceremony of akhand path today. With the focus on the celebration of the Tercentenary celebrations of the birth of the Khalsa panth this Baisakhi at Anandpur Sahib, the spirit of the festival pervaded the city today. Apart from the gurdwaras, many city residents had been decorated with lights since last night to mark the tercentenary celebrations in their own way.Langar of kheer and jalebis was served at various gurdwaras. The devotees celebrated the festival by participating in the chabeels put up at various places in the city. Audio cassettes of shabads were played at these places to capture the mood and the spirit of the celebrations. Dhaadi jathas gave an evocative performance at Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Sector-19 after the recital of kirtans.
