CHANDIGARH, April 14: The fee review committee of the Panjab University will meet on April 20 to reconsider its earlier recommendations on hiking fees and various other charges.The committee in its earlier meetings held in February and March had recommended massive fee hikes ranging from 30 per cent to more than 10-fold. Following the proposals, various students organisations including the Haryana Students Association (HSA), the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the Panjab University Students Union (PUSU) had launched a joint agitation and hunger strike in protest.
The PU syndicate in its meeting on March 17 had decided that five more members be added to the existing 18-member committee, and the issue be re-examined. The names of syndics Rajinder Deepa, Ashok Goyal, Rajinder Bhandari, Anmol Rattan Sidhu and S.S. Hundal were added. The committee will meet on April 24, sources said.
