VIP security to be rationalised

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, April 14: With the City police deciding to rationalise providing of security cover to VVIPs and VIPs, the police hopes to reduce the problem of shortage of force.UT Inspector-General of Police Kiran Bedi said the force will be deployed on night patrolling. The nakas to seal all exit points from the city will also be strengthened.

A large number of VIPs in the city were provided security cover particularly during the peak of terrorism. ``Since the situation has returned to normal, why we cannot return to normal policing,'' Bedi said.

The IGP has herself reduced her security. ``It's been reduced to the minimum,'' she said. ``We are rationalising the security for not only the VIPs but also in our own department,'' she said.

The city has been facing acute problem of shortage of force due to which normal policing has been suffering.

Bedi said the force will start returning to the department within the next one or two days.
