Bombay YMCA advance

April 14: Bombay YMCA advanced to the second round of the Savio Club open junior basketball tournament, sponsored by Colgate, at Don Bosco School, Matunga today. The winners defeated Chembur YMCA 67-28 in a one-sided affair. Bombay YMCA are favourites to win the tournament, after a depleted Ghatkopar YMCA crashed out yesterday.

In another match, hosts Savio A defeated Agradneya Vyayamshala 43-15. Mihir Kothari was the top scorer for the hosts with 12 points.

Bombay YMCA 67 (Sharique Shaikh 19, K Farhan 9, Huzaifa 9) bt Chembur YMCA 28 (Clayton Buthello 11) HT 33-10; Savio A 43 (Mihir Kothari 12, Siddharth Shukla 11, Jinesh Mehta 10) bt Agradneya Vyayamshala 15 (Chetan Kharkhanis 8) HT 17-10.
