Crime Watch -- Vadodara

Six killed in road mishaps
As many as six people were killed in different road mishaps in the city and Vadodara district on Tuesday afternoon.

According to information, two persons were killed and five sustained injuries in a head on collision between two matadors near Sadli village in Shinor taluka. Two persons on a scooter were killed on the spot when their vehicle was hit by a speeding jeep from behind near Dumad Crossing on National Highway No 8.

In another road incident, fire brigade employee Rameshbhai Patel, who was coming with his wife and a one-year old daughter on his scooter from his native Sundurpura village, was killed on the spot after his scooter was hit by a truck. An unidentified person was killed in a road mishap in Fajelpur under Chhani police station.

Burns death
Seventeen-year-old Manjula Bhagwandas Raj, a resident of Ekta Nagar slums near Chhani Jakat Naka, died of burn injuries on Wednesday night in the SSG hospital. According to the Fatehgunj police, she sustained burn injuries when kerosene spilled over a burning stove while she was cooking on Wednesday evening. The police said she had sustained about 90 per cent burns, adding a case of accidental death has been registered.

Vehicle thefts
Two Luna mopeds were reported stolen in different cases of vehicle thefts registered by the police on Wednesday. According to the police, a Luna moped (GJ-6-R-2701) worth Rs 7,000 was stolen by unidentified persons from near Akota Garden around 9 pm while another Luna moped (GJ-6-KK-2038) worth Rs 9,000 was stolen from outside Padmavati Shopping Centre near Jhulelal Temple under the City police station. Cases have been registered and investigations are on.

Torture case
The Makarpura police have registered a case against three people for allegedly torturing a woman. According to the police, while two caught hold of the woman, one beat her up.

Bag stolen
One Diptiben Jethabhai Patel, a resident of Satyam Apartment in Gorwa, in a complaint with the Sayajigunj police stated that her bag containing gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 15,000 and cash Rs 2,300 cash was stolen by some unidentified persons on Thursday from a ST bus which she boarded at Lunavada bus stand for coming to Vadodara.

Three thefts
In three cases of house-breaks reported from three different places in the city on Wednesday night, cash and goods worth Rs 36,000 were stolen by unidentified miscreants. According to the police, cash and goods worth Rs 1,600 were stolen from a house in Hanuman Phalia under City police station and Rs 32,500 from another house in Gokul Township. In the third case of theft, cash Rs 900 was stolen from a house in Ajanta Quarters, both under J P Road police station.
