36th Raising Day celebrated

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, April 15: The 36th Raising Day of the Electrical Mechanical Engineers (EME) School, a premier training institute of Corps of EME, was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour by organising a number of activities from Monday to Thursday.

While the celebrations started with a barakhana at Eugene stadium on Monday, a sainik sammelan was also organised which was addressed by EME Commandant M C Sebastian. He spoke about standards achieved in the past and goals set for the future.

The school was raised on April 15, 1963, to train officers and technicians of the corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in repairs of armaments, instruments, vehicles and earth moving plants. It made rapid progress over the period and now imparts training from computer software to biomedical engineering and laser-based equipment. Recently, EME was awarded ISO-9001 certification, an international recognition for quality training.

The institution also takes part in the city's social activities, besides contributing towards the welfare of physically and mentally challenged children.

Para-sailing activities are conducted every Saturday, while the EME Golf Club is one of the most popular golf clubs in Gujarat. The school is also actively promoting environmental issues such as banning of plastic bags from the campus, utilisation of bio-degradable garbage for vermiculture, afforestation and pollution control.
