BJYM burns Congress' effigy

CHANDIGARH, April 15: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's district 3 today burnt the effigy of Congress party for destabilising the BJP-led coalition government at the Centre and their ``anti-dalit'' policies.

About 200 workers of BJYM gathered at the Sector 46 market from where they took out a procession under the presidentship of their president Satinder Singh and Rakesh Sharma.A number of BJYM and BJP leaders including former mayor Gian Chand Gupta later addressed the workers present. District 1 of the Morcha would now burn the effigy at Sector 19 rehri market tomorrow.

UT staff protest rally on April 27 n THE Federation of UT Employees and Workers, at a meeting here today, decided to hold a protest rally on April 27 near the Chandigarh Housing Board roundabout to highlight their demands.

According to Federation general secretary, Bhag Mal Rana, the meeting under the chairmanship of Ram Gopal demanded that UT employees be paid bonus, and granted DA at the rate of 10 per cent from January 1 this year for 1997-98 on Central pattern.

The Federation also demanded regularisation of all daily wage and work-charged employees, besides filling up of all vacant posts through departmental promotions. They also put forth a demand charter, which they would press for implementation before senior officials of the Administration.
