MUMBAI, April 15: Amit Pagnis powered Shivaj Park Gymkhana (SPG) to a position of dominance in the three-day Comrade Shield summit clash against Middle Income Group (MiG) Cricket Club, Bandra today. The southpaw slammed an unbeaten 124 (217b, 301m, 16x4) as SPG raised a healthy 298-3 when stumps were drawn for the day at the MiG Club ground.
While Pagnis anchored the innings to a nicety, useful contributions from opener Manoj Joglekar (52: 108b, 7x4), Praveen Amre (51: 71b, 5x4, 1x6) and Ojas Mehta (batting 45: 93b, 5x4, 1x6) laid the foundations of a big score.
Electing to bat, SPG overcame the early loss of opener Amol Rane (17) with the two southpaws Pagnis and Joglekar stringing a 72-run alliance off 19.5 overs. After Joglekar's exit, Pagnis joined hands with Amre to forge a 94-run stand in 23.5 overs. Though Amre departed after attaining the 50-run mark, Pagnis found an able ally in Mehta and the duo saw the day through remaining unseparated.
