Pagnis cracks ton

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, April 15: Amit Pagnis powered Shivaj Park Gymkhana (SPG) to a position of dominance in the three-day Comrade Shield summit clash against Middle Income Group (MiG) Cricket Club, Bandra today.

The southpaw slammed an unbeaten 124 (217b, 301m, 16x4) as SPG raised a healthy 298-3 when stumps were drawn for the day at the MiG Club ground.

While Pagnis anchored the innings to a nicety, useful contributions from opener Manoj Joglekar (52: 108b, 7x4), Praveen Amre (51: 71b, 5x4, 1x6) and Ojas Mehta (batting 45: 93b, 5x4, 1x6) laid the foundations of a big score.

Electing to bat, SPG overcame the early loss of opener Amol Rane (17) with the two southpaws Pagnis and Joglekar stringing a 72-run alliance off 19.5 overs. After Joglekar's exit, Pagnis joined hands with Amre to forge a 94-run stand in 23.5 overs. Though Amre departed after attaining the 50-run mark, Pagnis found an able ally in Mehta and the duo saw the day through remaining unseparated. Pagnis and Mehta have so far added 94 runs in 29.3 oversfor the fourth wicket.

Brief Scores

Shivaji Park Gymkhana 298-3 in 88 overs (Manoj Joglekar 52, Amit Pagnis batting 124, Praveen Amre 51, Ojas Mehta batting 45; Divakar Shetty 2-72) vs MiG CC.
