Shruti returns best card of the day

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, April 15: Parneeta Garewal maintained her lead after the second round of the Chandigarh Open Spice Ladies Amateur Golf Championship, which is being played at the Chandigarh Golf Club. She carded a round of one over par 73 to take her total to 147.

However, the best round of the day was brought in by Shruti Khanna, who had a disappointing round yesterday. She played par 72 and with her total of 152 is only five strokes off the lead.

Irina Brar, who played four over par yesterday played seven over par 79 today. She is currently at 155, and is placed third. Three shots behind Shruti.

Guneet Reikhy, who is currently lying fourth position made news with her round of six over par 78. Only four over till the 18th hole, she dropped two shots on the final hole to finish with a 76.

Ayesha Kapur had another disappointing 81 to take her total to 161. She needs to play a good round tomorrow to find a berth in the team for the forthcoming Asia-Pacific Juniors golf championship.

The ladies committee today attempted to change the various handicap categories, which are 0-18, 19-29 and 30-36, to a new format that is being followed in the rest of the country. This upset some of the players, who remonstrated and said rules couldn't be changed after two days of play. Consequently, the move was withdrawn.
