St Helenas `A' pip Bharati Nivas Sports Club; make last four stage

PUNE, April 15: St Helena's `A' entered the last four stage today after squeezing past Bharati Nivas Sports Club 20-17 in the under-13 category of the Pune District basketball tournament-cum-selection trials at the Deccan Gymkhana courts.

Saher Shaikh (8) and Priya Gurav (6) were the main scorers for the winners. The other teams to make the grade were Abhinav `B', PYC Gymkhana and Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (SPM).

SPM upset Deccan Gymkhana 12-7, well supported by Kavita Kapoor (3) and Dhanashree Jadhav (4) while Abhinav `B' continued to stay in the race ousting Helena's `B' 14-3. J Akanksha (5) and B Rucha (4) excelled for the winners.

Results: Under- 13 (Q/F): St Helena's `A': 20 (Saher Shaikh 8, Priya Gurav 6) bt Bharati Nivas Sports Club: 17 (Nupur Gokhale 9); St Helena's `B': 3 lost to Abhinav `B': 14 (J Akanksha 5, B Rucha 4); Honey Bees: 6 (Rucha Katdare 4) lost to PYC Gymkhana: 22 (Chaitrali Amrutkar 15, Anupama Bapat 4); SPM: 12 (Kavita Kapoor 3, Dhansahree Jadhav 4) bt Deccan Gymkhana: 7 (Nisha Kagal 3).
Emirates Good Luck India book in city
After the successful launch of the Gilbeys signature campaign by Pune mayor Datta Gaikwad, Emirates Airlines, the global partners of the World Cup '99, have come up with yet another message book -- The Good Luck India book -- which is on display at the Holiday Inn for all the lovers of the game to have a go at it.

The Puneites can forward their message to the Indian team through this book which will be handed over to the team on April 18 before the benefit match between the 1983 World Cup winners and the present team, in Mumbai.
