BHA gives turf green signal

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, APRIL 16: The executive committee of the Bombay Hockey Association (BHA) today ratified a BHA decision to import shock pads, a key ingredient for relaying the astroturf in its stadium.

BHA treasurer Govind Chokhani said a letter of credit, issued by Union Bank of India, has been forwarded to the London branch of AstroTurf Consultants, which is co-ordinating the procurement. Chokhani revealed the LC expires on April 21, and the shock pad would be air-lifted from London before that date.

It is learnt that one member of the installation team from Barber SS, Jason Cunningham, will arrive here Sunday and will commence the groundwork on Monday. His colleague, Gord Kerr, and AstroTurf regional manager Sophocles Sophocleous are scheduled to reach here on Tuesday. If all goes well, BHA should have a new turf by mid-May.
