Paes extends hold over Bhupathi
In the end, it turned out to be a glorious anti-climax. Mahesh Bhupathi, playing good tennis throughout the week, chose the final to completely go off tangent. Leander Paes, on the other hand, strugggled all week and when it came to the big match, he simply upped his game.

Anand stays way back
Michael Adams of England opted for a quick draw against Russia's Vladimir Kramnik in what looked like safety play with white pieces in his eighth round game of the Dos Hermanas Super Grandmasters Chess event. India's Viswanathan Anand continued to be winless and is now ninth among the ten players in what clearly is his worst result in recent memory.

Ferreira, Kiefer in title clash
South African Wayne Ferreira reached his first final in nearly three years by defeating fourth seed Thomas Johansson of Sweden 6-3, 6-2 in the Japan Open on Saturday. Seventh-seeded Ferreira takes on fifth seed Nicolas Kiefer of Germany, who ousted eighth seed Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden.
