Emphatic win for Maharashtra

Bhadrachalam, April 18: Maharashtra enjoyed a cakewalk against Tamil Nadu, beating them by five wickets in the Rev Katakshamma memorial all-India women's cricket tournament being held at the Junior College grounds here on Sunday.

Batting first Tamil Nadu once again put up a bad show with only Amasavalli (32). Rucha Shinde, Usha and Amrita Shinde, who had played for India `A' against Sri Lanka shared two wickets each.

Maharashtra had a bad start too but Deepali Rokade (32: 7x4) and Rucha Shinde (20 n.o.) saw their team through to a five wicket win. They meet AP on Tuesday.

Tamil Nadu 116 in 36.4 overs (Manjula 18, Amsavalli 32; Rucha Shinde 2-11, Usha 2-12 and Amrita Shinde 2-20) lost to Maharashtra 117-5 in 28.4 overs (Chandrani Kamble 19, Kalyani Umrani 10, Deepali Rokde 32, Aswini Nadkarni 10, Rucha Shinde 20 not out; Abhirami 2-27).
