President to meet Sonia today
Ending one stage of the political uncertainty gripping the nation, Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday announced that President K R Narayanan would meet Congress chief Sonia Gandhi today as part of his ``process of consultations'' towards having a ``viable alternative'' over the next couple of days.
Narayanan to go by spirit of 'letter', may ask for proof
President K R Narayanan is set to follow the precedents and practices set by his predecessors while dealing with the prevailing political situation.
BJP and allies want a second chance
Armed with ``letters of support'' from its allies affirming their faith in Atal Behari Vajpayee, the caretaker Government will today approach the President to place its case before him.
