MUMBAI, APRIL 20: The Maharashtra Government has prepared a comprehensive plan of Rs 450 crore to repair and redraw the roads network in Pune, Pimpri and Chinchwad, Public Works Department Nitin Gadkari announced this in the Legislative Council on Tuesday. He was replying to a question on the condition of Pune's roads.The Municipal Corporations of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have given their consent to the plan, he stated. Tenders would be invited in the next eight days, he added. The entire plan was based on the concept of awarding work-contracts to private entrepreneurs who will be authorised to collect toll on these roads, Gadkari informed the Upper House.
The widening work on the Supe-Neera and Shirur-Neera State roads in Pune Division was well underway but the entire project needed nearly Rs 8 crore and work would continue as per availability of funds, Gadkari said.
Also, laying of four-lane for nearly 100 kms on the Pune-Satara road is also underway with private entrepreneurs taking up somesections, Gadkari added.
